;Chandía Villarroel, Nicolás RubénJiménez Carrasco, Manuel VicenteLos aceites esenciales (o sus componentes bioactivos) son ampliamente utilizados en la industria farmacéutica y alimentos, estos se pueden administrar por vía oral, sin embargo sus características organolépticas suelen ser indeseables para el consumidor. Por otro lado en alimentos y/o medicamentos la inestabilidad y la mala solubilidad de compuestos oleosos generan problemas en la estabilidad del producto. Una solución a este problema y para superar estas dificultades es encapsular componentes bioactivos provenientes de aceites esenciales. Este proyecto ha sido orientado a investigar la mecánica de liberación del agente bioactivo carvacrol, en condiciones gastrointestinales simuladas. El fenómeno de liberación, para el caso particular de cápsulas de alginato, es por vía de hinchamiento (swelling) de la cápsula. Este fenómeno consiste en un incremento del volumen y/o peso de las cápsulas. Los resultados demostraron que existe mayor hinchamiento a un pH 7 por la solubilidad del alginato de sodio, ya que a pH 2 este se transforma en ácido algínico lo que provoca el efecto contrario. - PublicationObtención, evaluación antimicrobiana y antioxidante de extracto de aceite esencial de Peumus boldus.(2016-08)
;General Flores, Carlos TomásBenavides Valenzuela, Sergio FermínLos aceites esenciales son productos químicos intensamente aromáticos, volátiles por naturaleza y poco densos, generalmente destilables con agua o en corriente de vapor, y que son importantes en la industria cosmética (perfumes y aromatizantes), de alimentos (condimentos y saborizantes) y farmacéutica (saborizantes). Este proyecto fue orientado en la caracterización del aceite esencial de Peumus boldus. La extracción del aceite esencial se realizó mediante el proceso de arrastre de vapor, obteniendo un rendimiento de 1,72%. Para determinar la actividad antimicrobiana de este aceite, se probó su efecto en cepas de Staphylococcus Aureus y Escherichia Coli usando la técnica de difusión de agar. Encontrándose un mayor efecto antimicrobiano sobre la cepa de Escheriachia Coli. Por otro lado la actividad antioxidante se determinó mediante el método del radical libre de DPPH, y se encontró que el aceite de boldo posee concentraciones efectivas mayores a 30%, de 3 [μl] de aceite esencial. El análisis financiero determinó valores para el VAN (10%) de $ 2.723.525 y el TIR de 22%, determinándose como proyecto factible para implementar.
