;Ruíz Baier, Alexis Daniel ;Terán Montero, Cinthia CarolinaPuesto que la gran mayoría del combustible utilizado en la actualidad es de carácter no renovable, produciendo desechos que alteran el ecosistema, se planteó una investigación para obtener un combustible que no presente tales problemas. Es así que se exploró la obtención de un biocombustible de carácter renovable, con desechos orgánicos y mínimos niveles de contaminación ambiental. El objetivo de la investigación fue la obtención de etanol como biocombustible a partir de granos de cereales de uso común en nuestro país (trigo, maíz y avena). Para la optimización de esta obtención, se determinaron los tiempos óptimos de la germinación y de la fermentación del mosto de los tres diferentes cereales, también se determinó el rendimiento en etanol de cada uno de ellos. El método utilizado fue una secuencia de cinco subprocesos, para cada uno de los diferentes granos, que contempló, en primer lugar, la germinación de los mismos, luego un secado, para proceder entonces a la maceración. En ese momento se agregó levadura (Saccharomycess cerevisiae) y agua para su fermentación, concluyendo con el método de destilación simple. Los resultados obtenidos en cuanto a los tiempos óptimos de germinación, fueron de 99 horas para el maíz, 48 horas para el trigo, y 72 para la avena. El tiempo óptimo de fermentación para el maíz fue de 192 horas, para el trigo fue de 264 horas, al igual que para la avena. En cuanto a rendimiento expresado en gramos de etanol obtenido, por gramo de biomasa seca utilizada, se obtuvo un resultado de 8,15% del maíz, un 14,75% del trigo, y un 4,52% de la avena.
